The Secure Digital Photocopier provides the security needed to authenticate critical data. Before archiving the original file to PDF, the SDP brands the PDF with the fingerprint of the original file using Surety, Inc.'s Digital Notary Service. The DNS is a keyless digital time-stamping service that can detect alterations of a single bit of a file or of the timestamp associated with that file and provides verifiable proof against tampering and modification.

Digital Notary ServiceThe SDP service also provides a comprehensive set of documentation detailing the electronic data conversion methods used as well as the complete chain of custody. The chain of custody information shows how the specific digital evidence has been handled during discovery and proves that a particular file has not been altered or modified. This solves the problem of authenticating digital evidence at trial and enhances data security and reliability throughout litigation. In addition, an SDP plug-in allows for authorized users to authenticate digital files on the web using Acrobat Business Tools - Evidence Exchange is the first company to offer to this service.

Evidence Exchange provides a system for securely duplicating documents of disparate types so that there is a cryptographically secure link between the copy and the original. The system produces duplicate renditions of digital documents in a format that can be opened from any computer that has the free Adobe Reader™ viewer installed. The SDP can then brand these documents with serial numbers that are cryptographically linked to the original. These secured numbers are both sequential with all other copied documents and securely linked with the original itself.
