EVIDENCE EXCHANGE JOINS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE “SAFE HARBOR” PROGRAM
( New York, NY ) - July 7, 2008
Evidence Exchange, a leading provider of E-Discovery Consulting and E-Discovery Processing Services, announced its recent certification with the Safe Harbor Program of the US Department of Commerce. By registering on March 19, 2008 as being “Safe Harbor” compliant, Evidence Exchange has acknowledged its understanding and compliance with The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection. The Safe Harbor Program enables U.S. companies to meet European requirements for data privacy protection. Participation in the Program should streamline data transfers because it ensures that data can be lawfully transferred from collection sites in the European Union to Evidence Exchange in the United States for “best of breed” E-Discovery Processing. Previously, such assurances related to European data privacy concerns had been addressed by Evidence Exchange in individual engagement letters. By registering the entire company in Safe Harbor, our clients will no longer need to address this privacy concern at the contract level.

Organizations that participate in Safe Harbor must adhere to a privacy policy that meets the safe harbor framework and declare publicly that they do so, as described at http://www.export.gov/safeharbor/SH_Overview.asp.

Evidence Exchange has offices in New York, NY and Leesburg, VA. Evidence Exchange also maintains a shell company in the United Kingdom to use in connection with select overseas processing assignments. Most importantly, we possess world class processing tools equipped to handle foreign language character sets, embedded files and advanced forms of encryption, unlike many of the leading E-Discovery providers.

Evidence Exchange has been supporting the domestic and overseas discovery needs of the leading New York law firms and in doing so; we find us processing significant quantities of foreign language data. Our compliance with the Safe Harbor Program is a public acknowledgement of Evidence Exchange’s concern for the broader privacy issues addressed in the European Commission’s Directive of Data Protection.

Founded as a software development venture in 1996, Evidence Exchange is a privately-held company with offices at Suite 1010, 21 Penn Plaza, New York, NY 10001. Founders have over 50 years of expertise in the legal service industry.
